One of the events that our scouts look forward to the most is our annual cake bake.
The event is held during our November pack meeting which is on the Monday night before Thanksgiving instead of the usual 4th Monday.
Scouts and their parents work together to create unique masterpieces that the boys take great pride in.
Most parents will tell you that the experience of working with their boys on these creations is one of the high points in their Scouting experience.
|
Before the pack meeting begins, the scouts have their picture professionally taken with their cake.
The pictures are later given to the scouts at their den meetings as a reminder of their hard work.
|
While the pack meeting is going on, a totally impartial panel of judges examine the cakes and award the Scouts that best represent each the 15 categories listed below.
After the awards are announced and the pack meeting is brought to a close, the cakes are donated to local homeless shelters where they are either used for desserts or are sold to provide additional income to the shelter.
A representative of the receiving organization is usually on hand to explain to the scouts how their contribution will go to help others.
