Annual Activities

Back to School Night
early September
Our primary recruiting event of the year and our big opportunity to show the community what our Cub Scouting program is all about.

Popcorn Sale
From late September until early November
The pack's only fund-raiser of the year and one of our primary sources of revenue.

Cardinal District Fall Family Campout
late October
Great fall camping opportunity for the whole family. Our pack joins up with the other 45 packs in the district for a weekend experience that includes Archery, BBs, Fishing, Sports, and many other program stations.

Scouting for Food
first Saturday in November
The Robert E. Council's Scouting for Food program is the single biggest contributor to the Central Virginia Food Bank. Cub Scout packs distribute grocery bags to homes on the first Saturday in November and Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews pick them up a week later.

Cake Bake
Monday before Thanksgiving
Our scouts work with their parents to create the wildest cake creations you have ever seen. Cakes are judged in several categories and awards are given out. Parents can buy back their son's cake for a $5 donation. All of the money collected, as well as the remaining cakes, are given to a local shelter.

Pinewood Derby
mid-January
One of the biggest and most popular events of the year. Our scouts turn a simple block of wood, four nails, and four plastic wheels into incredible cars for race day. Rank-specific heats determine the competitors for the championship races. Awards are given to the fastest cars as well as in over 20 judged categories!

Blue and Gold Banquet
last Saturday in February
The pack holds a special dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate the anniversary of Cub Scouting. A majority of our rank advancements take place on this night.

Pack 737 Spring Family Campout
late March or early April
This is the pack's opportunity to go out its own for a weekend campout with all of the families from the pack. We usually plan lots of fun activities for Saturday that are concluded with a pack-sponsored cookout and special campfire program.

Arrow of Light Ceremony
late April
Our pack recognizes the efforts of our second-year Webelos each year by holding a special dinner and solemn bonfire ceremony at Camp Brady Saunders in lieu of our normal pack meeting. Every scout family is not only invited but is encouraged to attend to share this experience with our graduating Webelos as they cross over to Boy Scouts. Representatives from area Boy Scout troops will be there to welcome them as they are awarded the Arrow of Light.

Pack Graduation
first Monday in June
The last Pack Meeting of the year is also when we celebrate our scouts' transition to their new ranks. We make special note of our Tiger Cubs as the receive their Bobcat badges and graduate in their new Wolf dens.

Summertime Activities

End of School Celebration at Putt-A-Way
Friday after Henrico school year ends
Pack 737 celebrates the end of the school year and the beginning of our summer season with a outing to Putt-A-Way golf in Goochland County near West Creek. Scouts can play on the two miniature golf courses and are treated to ice cream afterwards.

Cardinal District Day Camp
mid June
"The camp that comes to the boy." For five days, Monday thru Friday, the Cardinal District holds a camp from 8am-5pm where scouts can participate in archery, BBs, fishing, sports, crafts, science, and a whole host of other fun activities. It's also a great way to get a jump on the advancement requirements for the new rank.

Summer Resident Camp
July
Overnight camp held at the Robert E. Lee Council's incredible Cub Scout and Webelos Adventure Camp. Scouts stay in one of the camps housing villages where they might sleep in a western fort, teepees, mountain cabins, yurts, or in large cabin tents. The Scouts are also treated to program where they can do shooting sports in a Jamestown fort, study wildlife in the Nature Center, run bikes on a BMX course, or even fish off of a pirate ship or Huck Finn's raft. Great meals are provided in a beautiful (and air-conditioned) dining hall.

Richmond Speed Football Game
mid July
A visit to the Richmond Coliseum to not only watch the Speed play af2 football but also to go down on the field, meet the players, and act as the color guard for the National Anthem!

Southside Speedway
mid August
Scouts get a chance to see where the NASCAR stars of tomorrow get their start. Southside Speedways 1/3 mile track guarantees lots of excitement and entertainment. Occasionally, you may even see our scouts waving the green flag to start one of the races!

End of Summer Picnic
weekend before Labor Day weekend
As the school year gets ready to begin, the pack gets together for hot dogs, burgers, and lots of fun. Families come to Deep Run Park to finish up our summer of activites and get ready to kick off a new season of scouting.
